KIDS COLLECTIVE COMMUNITY FILM GROUP PRESENTS...
TMA, SVETLO, TMA (DARKNESS, LIGHT, DARKNESS).
EASTERN EUROPEAN ANIMATION & EXPERIMENTAL FILM.
Following the riotous community abandon of our singalong Mamma Mia!, we have a slight change of pace
and content. As part of The Wood Green International Film Festival (ooooooohhh), we are showing rarely
screened animation and experimental film from Russia, Latvia, Poland, the Czech Republic and Estonia.
From early Soviet propaganda to the subversive and often banned statements of dissident animators
- from jazz inspired abstraction, to straightforward and beautiful artistry - this event will be a visual feast
(possibly with a slightly strange aftertaste). Accordion maestro 'Serge The Musicman' will warm the crowd with
traditional tunes from these regions and there might even be some dancing - suitably Slavic snacks will be
available on the day.

this coming Thursday March 12th...
Haringey Independent Cinema Presentation.
Persepolis.
Marjane Satrapi and Vincent Parronaud, Iran, 2007, 96mins. Cert 12a.
Persepolis is the poignant story of a young girl's coming-of-age in Iran during the Islamic Revolution.
Marjane Satrapi's critically acclaimed graphic novel of the same name comes to life in a witty and heartfelt
animated film. In powerful black-and-white images, Satrapi tells the story of her early life in Tehran during
years that saw the overthrow of the Shah's regime, the triumph of the Islamic Revolution, and the devastating
effects of war with Iraq. It is through the eyes of precocious and outspoken nine-year-old Marjane that we see
a people's hopes dashed as fundamentalists take power, forcing the veil on women and imprisoning thousands.
Persepolis paints an unforgettable portrait of daily life in Iran: of the bewildering contradictions between home
life and public life and of the enormous toll repressive regimes exact on the individual spirit. With a speaker
from Iran - this is an International Women's Day Event.
Doors Open: 7.00pm Admission: Ł3 waged / Ł2 low and unwaged.
